Fox finished with Kyle Martino's show
By Scott French
Kyle Martino is the best color commentator on soccer in the U.S. not named Alexi Lalas, and the hope here is that he get more time for game analysis now that Fox Soccer Channel has canceled his weekly “Soccer Talk Live” show.
The former Galaxy midfielder, whose career was cut short by injury, is an intelligent and engaging analyst who did outstanding work for ESPN on Major League Soccer matches and on ESPN Radio during the World Cup. He bolted for Fox last summer when offered “Soccer Talk Live,” which replaced “Fox Football Fone-In,” co-hosted by former U.S. striker Eric Wynalda, on Monday nights.
Low ratings doomed “Soccer Talk Live,” a blend of soccer and pop culture, after less than three months. The show ran just 10 times.
