3 Gregg Berhalter (Tenafly, N.J./North Carolina): 15-year European vet, L.A. backline anchor nursing a knee injury after illness limited him in 2010
20 A.J. DeLaGarza (Bryans Road, Md./Maryland): Versatile third-year defender is at home at all four backline positions
2 Todd Dunivant (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Stanford): Ninth-year vet a fixture at left back since second L.A. stint began in 2009
5 Sean Franklin (Palmdale/Highland HS and Cal State Northridge): 2008 MLS Rookie of the Year emerged as one of MLS's premier right backs last season
4 Omar Gonzalez (Dallas/Maryland): Towering (6-foot-5) center back was MLS's Rookie of the Year in 2009, a Best XI selection last year
6 Frankie Hejduk (Cardiff-by-the-Sea/UCLA): Iconic outside back returns to So Cal after 15 years in Tampa, Europe and Columbus
22 Leonardo (Sao Paulo, Brazil): Big things expected of 23-year-old center back, on loan from Sao Paulo, now that he's healthy
28 Ryan Thomas (Claremont/Claremont HS and Stanford): Supplemental draft choice will see Reserve League title at outside back

10 Landon Donovan (Redlands/Redlands East Valley HS): Galaxy's captain and premier player -- the 2008 MLS scoring champ, 2009 MLS MVP and 2010 MLS assists leader -- says he's refreshed and more energetic than he's been in years
16 Hector Jimenez (Bell Gardens/Bell Gardens HS and California): Rookie winger will see time in Reserve League, as occasional sub
27 Bryan Jordan (Temple City/Temple City HS and Oregon State): Versatile attacker will be used primarily on the midfield flanks, but he can play up front or as an outside back
19 Juninho (San Jose dos Campos, Brazil): Central midfielder, on loan from Sao Paulo, took step forward in preseason after winning starting job last season
7 Jovan Kirovski (Escondido): Veteran attacker, 35 on Friday, provides depth in central midfield, can play farther forward if needed
15 Dan Keat (Wellington, New Zealand/Dartmouth): Kiwi youth national-teamer, a supplemental-draft choice, missed most of preseason with a foot injury
21 Dustin McCarty (Maitland, Fla./North Carolina): Supplemental-draft selection, younger brother of D.C. United's Dax McCarty, can play in midfield or as an outside back
26 Michael Stephens (Naperville, Ill./UCLA): Skilled second-year pro, who had eight assists as a rookie, can play anywhere in midfield

9 Juan Pablo Angel (Medellin, Colombia): Regal striker scored 61 goals in four seasons for New York after starring at Atletico Nacional, River Plate and Aston Villa
11 Chad Barrett (Beaverton, Ore./UCLA): Energetic striker scored 30 goals in six seasons with Chicago and Toronto FC

25 Miguel Lopez (Ensenada, Argentina): 22-year-old forward, on loan from Quilmes, provides skillful option up top
18 Mike Magee (Chicago): Eighth-year vet (at 26) has five goals and seven assists in two seasons with the Galaxy, was limited by injury last year
32 Jack McBean (Newport Beach/Corona del Mar HS): 16-year-old forward was playing prep soccer earlier this winter, will see time with Reserve League and academy teams and with U.S. U-17s

Donovan Ricketts is No. 1, but Arena says Josh Saunders will see more time this season.
Defenders: Sean Franklin at right back, Omar Gonzalez and Gregg Berhalter in the middle, Todd Dunivant at left back. With Berhalter hurt to start the season, Leonardo likely steps in next to Berhalter, and A.J. DeLaGarza also is an option. DeLaGarza and Frankie Hejduk are first-choice outside backs off the bench.
Midfielders: David Beckham on the right, Landon Donovan on the left and Juninho and Chris Birchall in the middle. Expect Paolo Cardozo to get opportunities in the middle, and Michael Stephens is the most versatile backup. Jovan Kirovski provides cover for Bichall.
Forwards: Juan Pablo Angel and, perhaps, a revolving group headed by Chad Barrett. Donovan might be Angel's best partner, but team needs will limit his time up top. Mike Magee and Miguel Lopez will get their chances, and Adam Cristman is coming off an impressive preseason Click here for full schedule
