Diamond Bar's Alex Morgan in her first year with the U.S. women's national established herself as a late goal-getter off the bench. On Sunday she was in the starting lineup for the first time.

Morgan (Diamond Bar HS), the top pick (by Western New York) in the Women's Professional Soccer draft earlier this month, played the full 90 minutes as the Americans beat Canada, 2-1, in China's Four Nations tournament. Former UCLA star Lauren Cheney and Lindsay Tarpley, wife of UCLA's head coach, assisted each other's goals. Lake Forest's Amy Rodriguez(Santa Margarita Catholic HS/USC) played the first half.

Defender Brittany Taylor and midfielder Kelley O'Hara also made their first starts, and Meghan Klingenberg, a midfielder heading from the University of North Carolina into WPS, received her first cap.

China beat Sweden, 2-1, in the other game, so everybody is 1-1-0 with as many goals scored as conceded but Canada and China top top with one more goal scored. The U.S. finishes Tuesday against China.
