Los Angeles Soccer: Earthquakes
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 3
UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Real Madrid at AC Milan
Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Deportes, 12:30 p.m.
Wait, didn't these teams just play. Uh, yeah, two weeks ago -- now they're at it again, with Milan looking to avenge the 2-0 defeat at the Bernabeu -- on Cristiano Ronaldo and Mezut Oezil strikes. The Spaniards are looking something special, and you've got to credit Jose Mourinho (and his clever acquisitions), and if Milan can pull off a win, even a draw, it's going give them an advantage over Ajax Amsterdam in the battle for Group G's second quarterfinal slot.
Spartak Moscow at Chelsea, Fox Soccer Plus, 12:30 and 5:30 p.m.; Fox Soccer Channel, 3 p.m.
Arsenal at Shakhtar Donetsk, Fox Deportes, 2:30 p.m.; Fox Soccer Channel, 5 p.m. and 1 a.m.; Fox Soccer Plus, 9 p.m.
Ajax Amsterdam at Auxerre, Fox Soccer Channel, 10:30 p.m.
- ON LOCAL FIELDS
Concordia at Vanguard
Vanguard Soccer Field (Costa Mesa), 7 p.m.
Official annals have Vanguard's record as 10-7, but don't believe it. The Lios, 15-1-1 on the field this year, forfeited six games because coach Randy Dodge didn't realize he had to sit out a game after getting red-carded in last year's season-ender. Led by Irishman Kevin Cornwall, who has 13 goals and was just selected Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Vanguard responded with a 9-1-0 run through the NAIA's best conference. Now Dodge, the GSAC Coach of the Year, leads his team into the conference tournament, starting with a quarterfinal against its Orange County rival.
