Los Angeles Soccer: FC Golden State
Fullerton Rangers won a championship for the second straight year at the Dallas Cup, the nation's most prestigious youth soccer event.
Another Orange County club also claimed a title.
The Rangers' under-15 “White” team completed a six-win run through last week's competition with a 2-1 victory Saturday over Germany's Eintracht Frankfurt behind first-half goals by Andres Lemus and Amirgy Pineda and an outstanding performance by goalkeeper Keith Murphy. Pineda scored a team-best four goals for Fullerton, which won the tournament's U-14 title a year ago.
United FC, from San Juan Capistrano, went 6-0 in the U-13 tournament, its “Gold” side lifting the trophy with a 1-0 win Saturday over Nomads Academy from La Jolla on a goal by Hugo Espindola. Juan Seb Olivares led United with five goals.
Temecula's Arsenal FC reached the finals in the U-19 and U-14 brackets, and Pasadena's FC Golden State made it to the U-16 title game.
Twenty-one local teams competed in the seven divisions, with 15 of them advancing to the knockout round. Brazil's Coritiba FC claimed the most prestigious championship by winning the Super Group.
