UCLA freshman Grant Watson has been named Pac-12 pitcher of the week after giving up only three runs and 11 hits over 13 innings for the Bruins last week.
Watson, a lefty from Bakersfield, allowed one run and seven hits through six innings in a 7-2 win against USC at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday and then limited Arizona State to two runs and four hits in six innings of a 4-2 UCLA victory Sunday. He also pitched a scoreless inning of relief during UCLA's 6-5 victory over ASU on Friday.
Watson improved to 5-0 with a 3.86 ERA this season and became the first UCLA pitcher since Trevor Bauer in 2009 to record to wins in a week.
UCLA (15-4, 2-1 Pac-12), ranked No. 7 in the nation by Baseball America, returns to action Friday at 6 p.m. against Washington State (10-8, 1-2 Pac-12) at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Bruins have won 13 of their last 14 games.
