Receiver Ricky Marvray, a redshirt freshman who may very well be voted Fall Camp MVP if there were such a thing, switched his jersey number to No. 10 on Monday.
Marvray, who has made several highlight-quality catches, had worn No. 20 for the first two weeks of camp, but junior linebacker Glenn Love also wears 20 and both play on the same special teams units.
“I’ve had it about five years so it kind of s---- to give it up,” Marvray said. “But 10 is cool. It doesn’t matter what number I have, I’m still going to do the same thing.”
Marvray said there was no contest with Love for rights to the No. 20, only that seniority prevailed.
“I was ordered,” he joked. “Glenn has been here longer and had the number longer, so I had to give it up. It’s OK. I’m a team player.”
Marvray sat out of practice Tuesday after experiencing back spasms on Monday. He said he would return Wednesday.
