--Richard Brehaut completed about 65-70% of his passes, Coach Rick Neuheisel said, including a touchdown. "I thought he was really good," Neuheisel said. "He looked sharp."
--Tight End Joe Fauria, who missed much of Fall camp with a groin strain, was at full strength for Friday's scrimmage at the Rose Bowl, but there was a "little rust on him," Neuheisel said. "He had one chance to catch a ball and he dropped it so I know he’s angry at himself. But he got probably 20 plays, which is great."
--Receiver Ricky Marvray had at least three receptions during the scrimmage Neuheisel said, an indicator that he is recovered from back spasms that kept him from practicing early this week.
--Running back Jordon James got about 10-12 carries and "looked good" Neuheisel said. James had missed about two weeks with a hamstring strain. Fellow freshman Malcolm Jones also went full speed, Neuheisel said. Jones missed two days this week with a sprained ankle. The featured tailback spot is still open, Neuheisel said. "I’m going to let a few more days go by before we make that determination, but I like where we are at the position," he said.
--Kicker Kai Forbath sat out the scrimmage. The All-American is nursing a sore groin that has limited him for nearly the entire Fall camp, but Neuheisel said he expects Forbath to be ready for the season opener Sept. 4.
--The scrimmage Friday was not live as Neuheisel did not want to risk further injury. But, he said, the team would work "really hard" on tackling this week in practice.
--Quote of the day from Neuheisel, when asked about his experience in dealing with an oblique strain such as the one that's hampered quarterback Kevin Prince: "I had such little muscle in my life that I don’t have any idea how long these things take."
