Rahim Moore a semifinalist for Jim Thorpe Award

Preseason All-American safety Rahim Moore was named to the Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist list, the selection committee announced Tuesday. The award is given annually to the nation's best defensive back.

Moore's 53 tackles this season rank him third on UCLA's team. He's better known for recording a nation-best 10 interceptions as a sophomore last season. He only has one interception this year.

The winner of the Thorpe Award will be announced on Dec. 9 as part of The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards show on ESPN. Former Tennessee and current Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry, a first-round pick in April, took the hardware last year.
