It was a melancholy locker room after the Bruins watched their hopes of going to a bowl game end in Tempe, Ariz.
Though UCLA will likely finish about where it was projected to finish (8th) in the preseason Pac-10 media poll, it was obvious the players and coaches expected a lot more.
"I'm just sorry in general for how things have gone," junior safety Rahim Moore said. "I'll take the whole blame as far as being a captain and leader of this team. I just want to say I'm sorry to all the fans and everybody that loves UCLA, I'm sorry because I don't like being a part of losing. We all don't.
"I want to apologize for how things are going right now and I'm going to do all I can to help turn this thing around. I'm always a positive person when it comes to things like this."
Asked if he had any ideas about how to correct what went wrong this season, Moore said:
"You know what's got to change? We've got to change the losing. You can't say we have to change things or do that different. People always say that when you're losing. But when you're winning, you're on top of the world. We just have to change the losing."
