Women's golf wins NCAA regional

UCLA's women's golf team shot a four-player total of 10-over-par 298 Saturday at Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame in Indiana and won the NCAA central regional championship by four shots over Louisiana State.

Bruins' junior Stephanie Kono shot four-under 68 in the final round, the best individual round of the tournament, and tied Louisiana State's Megan McChrystal for the individual title with a three-day score of two-over 218 Freshman Ani Gulugian, the individual leader after the first round, stumbled to a 78 Saturday and finished in a tie for eighth.

Lee Lopez shot 75 and Glory Yang shot 78 to round out UCLA's scoring on Saturday as the Bruins won their fifth tournament in 10 appearances this year.

UCLA, ranked No. 2 in the nation, advances to the NCAA finals May 18-21 at Tradition's Club in Bryan, Texas.
