In an announcement that surprised nobody, UCLA revealed a half hour before game time that Richard Brehaut would start at quarterback Saturday night against San Jose State at the Rose Bowl.
Last week's starter Kevin Prince injured his shoulder in the second quarter against Houston and has been limited in practice this week. Coach Rick Neuheisel said Brehaut would "probably" start, but that he would try and get both quarterbacks in the game.
Prince sprained the AC joint in his shoulder and had a mild concussion after landing hard at the end of four-yard run against Houston. Brehaut relieved and passed for 264 yards and two touchdowns in UCLA's 38-34 loss.
Prince sat out of practice Tuesday, practiced on Wednesday, but complained of lingering pain in his shoulder and threw very sparingly on Thursday.
