GradePASSING ATTACK
The pass game wasn't really needed because of the success in the run game, but the Bruins did make a couple of key plays through the air. Kevin Prince passed for only 92 yards, completing nine of 18 passes, but with four receivers suspended for the the game, not much could be expected.

GradeRUSHING ATTACK
This game was the Pistol run to perfection and it's exactly the reason coach Rick Neuheisel kept picking Kevin Prince to run it over Richard Brehaut. The Bruins rushed for a season-high 294 yards with Prince gaining a career-high 163 in 19 carries. Running Back Derrick Coleman had three rushing touchdowns.

GradeIN THE TRENCHES
There were a few breakdowns in pass protection and the running backs weren't able to find much space, but all in all it was a good effort by the offensive line. Wade Yandall, playing for the first time, did a serviceable job. Some shuffling on the defensive front led to the strongest game of the season for the D-line. Datone Jones, who moved from end to tackle, had two sacks.

GradeDEFENSE
By far the best game of the season by UCLA's defense. They gave up a season low in points and even those were the results of UCLA turnovers deep in their own territory. California converted only two of 12 third downs, a category in which UCLA was 118th in the nation coming into the game.

GradeSPECIAL TEAMS
Jeff Locke was phenomenal, putting four punts inside the 20 and two of them inside the five. He averaged 44.3 yards per punt. he also blasted five of six kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks. The downgrade comes because of the muffed punt by Jordon James that led to a Cal touchdown. he was return punts only because Taylor Embree was one of the suspended players.

GradeCOACHING
The offensive game plan worked perfectly and was even more impressive considering the lack of weapons because of the four receiver suspensions. Defensively, the Bruins changed around some personnel and introduced some new schemes which led to a stellar defensive game. Getting the team to play its best game the week after an embarrassment is a credit to the coaches.
