Torian White has heart procedure
By Peter Yoon
LOS ANGELES -- UCLA’s starting left tackle, Torian White, will miss practice this week after undergoing a minor procedure Tuesday to correct a heart rhythm issue, coach Jim Mora said.
White, a 6-5, 285-pound redshirt freshman, is expected to return to practice next week and play Oct. 27 against Arizona State. UCLA does not play this week.
“He will be fine for the Arizona State game,” Mora said.
White has started every game for the Bruins this season despite discovering during training camp that he needed the procedure. He sat out of several practices after complaining of chest pains but doctors said the issue wasn't significant enough to warrant missing time so he scheduled the procedure for the off week. It is not expected to be an issue in the future.
Also, starting right tackle Simon Goines, who left Saturday's game with a knee injury, had an MRI that reveal no serious damage, Mora said. Goines was limited to exercise bike work Tuesday but could be back on the field Wednesday, Mora said.
"They didn't find anything serious enough to keep him out," Mora said. "He might get some work tomorrow, but that remains to be seen."
