Kyle Anderson is Pac-12 Player of the Week
By Peter Yoon
UCLA freshman Kyle Anderson has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week after helping the Bruins to key victories. No. 23 UCLA (22-7, 12-4) moved back into the Associated Press top 25 and remained tied with Oregon for first place in the Pac-12.
Anderson, a 6-foot-9 point forward, averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds against Arizona State and Arizona. He scored a career-high 21 points Wednesday in a 79-74 overtime victory over Arizona State and added 15 rebounds, three assists, four blocks and a steal. In a 74-69 victory over Arizona on Saturday, Anderson had 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
It is Anderson's first player of the week honor at UCLA. Shabazz Muhammad, who earned the honor Dec. 31, is the only other UCLA player to be named conference player of the week this season.
The Bruins can earn at least a share of the Pac-12 title with a sweep of Washington State and Washington this week. The Bruins play the Cougars (11-18, 2-14) Wednesday in Pullman and face the Huskies (16-13, 8-8) Saturday in Seattle.
