Softball: Langenfeld named Player of the Year
By Blair Angulo
The Pac-10 Conference released its softball awards list Wednesday and UCLA's four letters were sprinkled throughout.
Senior Megan Langenfeld was the big winner, nabbing Player of the Year honors after hitting a conference-best .510 during the season. Ten other Bruins joined her on All-Conference teams.
Langenfeld also made 20 pitching appearances, posting a 10-1 record and 1.29 ERA. GiOnna DiSalvatore and sophomore Andrea Harrison were the others named to the first team. The three first-team honors for the Bruins were tied for the most in the conference along with Arizona and defending national champion Washington.
Langenfeld will undoubtedly play a large role UCLA's postseason run, which begins Friday on campus at Easton Stadium. No. 5-seeded UCLA opens play against St. Mary's at 5:30 p.m., with the winner meeting the winner of San Diego State and Fresno State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
