Women's basketball routs USC
The UCLA women's basketball team responded to USC coach Michael Cooper's controversial comments with two words of its own Saturday afternoon.
The Bruins avenged an earlier loss to the Trojans by the way of a 74-56 victory at Pauley Pavilion. As UCLA walked into its the locker room with a 19-point lead at the half, a Fox Sports Net sideline reporter interviewed Cooper.
"What a crowd," he said with a smile as he stared into the stands.
The announced crowd of 8,006 was the fifth-largest home crowd in UCLA women's basketball history. Perhaps Cooper's now infamous postgame remarks have spiced up the crosstown rivalry.
Erica Tukiainen, Jasmine Dixon and Markel Walker each had 13 points for the Bruins (16-7, 9-3 Pacific 10 Conference).
