Johnathan Franklin has bruised hip
By Peter Yoon
CORVALLIS, Ore.--UCLA leading rusher Johnathan Franklin left Saturday's 27-19 victory at Oregon State with a left hip contusion and will be further evaluated this weekend.
Franklin, who led the team with 1,127 yards rushing last season--the 10th highest single-season total in UCLA history, had 36 yards in six carries against the Beavers, but went to the sideline after a 12-yard gain early in the second quarter and did not return.
"It's a deep bruise, but I'll be all right," said Franklin, who has rushed for 306 yards and two touchdowns in 53 carries this season. "I think I could have come back out there but they wanted me to rest it."
Also injured during the game were safety Dalton Hilliard, who sprained his left shoulder, and cornerback Sheldon Price, who sprained his right knee jumping in frustration after missing on an interception on a fourth-down play near the end of the game.
Hilliard will have X-rays when the team returns to Los Angeles. Price said it was "nothing major" and that he would be back in practice on Tuesday.
