Halftime: Nebraska 35, UCLA 30

By Blair Angulo

It's been a tale of two halves in Minneapolis, Minn. -- except that No. 8-seeded UCLA and No. 1-seeded Nebraska have played only one half.

The Bruins led by as many as nine points early behind a smothering defensive effort and opportunistic put-back layups. Then UCLA went nearly seven minutes without scoring and Nebraska responded with a massive run -- highlighted by three Yvonne Turner 3-pointers --  to go up by 10 points. UCLA scored five unanswered points before the break to cut the deficit to 35-30.

Leading scorers Jasmine Dixon and Markel Walker spent much of the last 10 minutes on the bench with two personal fouls apiece. The two have proven to be forces when they are in the paint together and their absence showed, as the Bruins struggled to generate offense without them. UCLA is just one for six from beyond the arc.
