UCLA's national title defense in softball ended Sunday when the Bruins lost to Florida, 11-3, in an elimination game for both teams at Gainesville, Fla.

The Gators (50-10), seeded fourth nationally, scored nine runs in the bottom of the first inning, added two in the fourth to take an 11-0 lead. B.B. Bates had a two-run single to highlight a three-run fifth inning rally for unseeded UCLA, but the game was called after four and a half innings because of the eight-run rule, ending UCLA's season. The Bruins finish 36-19 record.

UCLA, which won the College World Series last season, defeated Florida earlier on Sunday, scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh for a 3-2 victory that set up the regional championship game. Outfielder Amy Crawford delivered a game-winning single in that game to set up the rematch with a trip to the Super Regionals on the line.

Florida, however, scored early and often in that game and advanced to face Oregon next week.

Kellie Fox singled to score B.B. Bates in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving UCLA a walk-off, 5-4 win against Loyola Marymount at Easton Stadium on Wednesday.

Bates had four hits and scored three times for the sixth-ranked Bruins (27-5).

LMU took a 4-3 lead on Kelly Sarginson's grand slam in the sixth. But Katie Schroeder, Bates and GiOnna DiSalvatore each singled to start the seventh, tying things up before Fox's game-winner two batters later.

UCLA, tied atop the Pac-10 Conference standings at 3-0, host 13th-ranked Stanford for three games beginning on Friday at 7 p.m.
