Don Barksdale, Reggie Miller and Jamaal Wilkes will have their UCLA jerseys retired during Pac-12 games at Pauley Pavilion this season, athletic director Dan Guerrero announced Tuesday in his weekly blog.

Wilkes, part of UCLA's famous 88-game win streak and two national championship teams, will have his No. 52 jersey raised to the rafters of Pauley Pavilion Jan. 17 during a game against Oregon State. Wilkes, who also played for the Lakers, will have his Lakers jersey retired in a Dec. 28 ceremony.

Miller, third on the UCLA all-time scoring list, will have his No. 31 jersey retired Jan. 30 when the Bruins play crosstown rival USC, the school where Miller's sister Cheryl played.

Barksdale, who in 1948 was the first African American to earn NCAA All-American honors, will have his No. 11 jersey retired Feb. 7 when the Bruins face Washington.

All three players are set to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday, marking the first time three UCLA players are in the same Hall of Fame class and bringing to 12 the number of men and women with UCLA ties in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

A few notes and links as we head into the weekend:

-- UCLA ace pitcher Gerrit Cole was named a second-team All-American by Baseball America. The sophomore right-hander was Baseball America's top prospect on Team USA last summer after going 4-0 with a 1.06 earned-run average. Cole, a first-round pick by the New York Yankees in the 2008 MLB Draft, is expected to start in UCLA's season-opener two weeks from today.

-- A number of football players have shifted their attention to track and field during the off-season. They are: receiver Randall Carroll (sprints), receiver Nelson Rosario (jumps), offensive lineman Darius Savage (throws) and tailback Damien Thigpen (hurdles/sprints). The UCLA track and field team will compete at the Northern Arizona University Team Challenge (indoor) on Saturday. It will be the first indoor meet for Carroll, who was the top sprinter in the state of California last year after winning both the 100m and 200m championships as a senior at Los Angeles Cathedral.

-- The UCLA women's basketball team lost to No. 2 Stanford, 74-53, on at Maples Pavilion on Thursday night. Guard Jasmine Dixon scored 16 points and nine rebounds, but the Cardinal out-scored the Bruins by 17 in the second half to pull away. "If [Dixon] had a few teammates on board with that mentality, the outcome could have been different," coach Nikki Caldwell told the Daily Bruin. "Only one or two players getting after it gets us out of sync." UCLA had lost by just four in the teams' previous meeting on Jan. 10.

-- Former UCLA guard and NBA great Reggie Miller will be inducted in the Pacific 10 Conference Hall of Honor on Mar. 13 during the men's basketball conference tournament. He finished his career as the school's second all-time scorer with 2,095 points. Miller went on to excel professionally and is the NBA record-holder for career three-pointers made (2,560).
