LB Hayes Pullard will likely redshirt

Freshman linebacker Hayes Pullard, who was competing for playing time at strongside linebacker and on special teams, will have arthroscopic knee surgery and will likely redshirt this season, USC coach Lane Kiffin said after practice Wednesday.

Pullard injured the knee during Monday’s practice and Kiffin believes the injury will take at least six weeks to fully heal which is why he thinks it will likely result in Pullard being redshirted.

“That’s a position that’s not very deep for us and we were looking for him to be a backup linebacker and play on special teams,” Kiffin said. “It’s probably going to be tough to get him back physically and mentally prepared because it was already going to be tough with him being a true freshman.”
