In order to make the trip, Barkley had to miss a regularly scheduled 3 p.m. Tuesday workout for the Trojans, the first summer session he'll have missed in at least his last two years at USC. He typically leads the team throughout the hour-plus workout.
Linebacker Chris Galippo is expected to take over those duties in his temporary absence.
