USC quarterback Matt Barkley wrapped up the watch-list season Monday with his third preseason honor, as he was one of 40 NCAA athletes named to the Walter Camp Award watch list.
The Camp is given out annually to the nation's top college football player. Former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton is the reigning winner.
In two seasons as USC's starting signal-caller, Barkley, a 20-year-old junior, has thrown for 41 touchdowns and 26 interceptions, averaging just over 230 yards per start. He has also been nominated for the Maxwell and Davey O'Brien awards this offseason.
In all, USC received 14 watch-list nominations over the last two weeks. The other Trojans nominated were receiver Robert Woods, tight end Rhett Ellison, left tackle Matt Kalil, center Khaled Holmes, defensive end Nick Perry, middle linebacker Chris Galippo and safety T.J. McDonald.
