Scouting Washington: Washington, under fourth-year coach Steve Sarkisian (the former USC assistant), fell at No. 2 Oregon last Saturday, 52-21, one game after upsetting No. 8 Stanford at home, 17-13. It was UW’s second road loss to a highly ranked team, after losing earlier in the year at No. 3 LSU, 41-3. The Huskies are playing home games this season in the Seattle Seahawks’ CenturyLink Field while Husky Stadium is being renovated.
UW’s offense is piloted by junior QB Keith Price (94-of-158 passing, 59.5 percent, 882 yards, 5 touchdowns, 4 interceptions in 2012), who is to date the most accurate passer in school history and is fourth on its all-time touchdown-pass list (40). Sophomore TB Bishop Sankey (89 carries, 433 yards, 4.9 avg, six touchdowns, plus 6 receptions for 39 yards) leads the ground attack, while sophomore WR Kasen Williams (31 receptions, 340 yards, 11.0 avg, three touchdowns) and sophomore TE/ basketball player Austin Seferian-Jenkins (24 receptions, 254 yards, 10.6 avg, one touchdown) are the top pass-catchers.
The Huskies are 13th nationally in pass defense (173.8, second in Pac-12). Leading tacklers include junior LB Thomas Tutogi (33 tackles, two for loss, one sack, one fumble recovery), junior safety Sean Parker (30 tackles, 1.5 for loss, one forced fumble), sophomore LB John Timu (28 tackles, two for loss, one sack) and freshman safety Shaq Thompson (28 tackles, 3.5 for loss, one interception). -- Courtesy USC sports information
