Summer workouts: Harris on the upswing
By Pedro Moura
Redshirt freshman cornerback Torin Harris missed a good deal of 2010 spring practice because of a lingering hamstring injury. While he and fellow corner Brian Baucham (toe) were out with injuries, junior T.J Bryant had every opportunity to seize control of the starting spot across from senior leader Shareece Wright.
But Bryant didn't, losing his jersey number and largely failing to impress the new coaching staff.
And so the trio will continue their competition for the prestigious position when fall camp begins in August, joined by class of 2010 signees Anthony Brown, Demetrius Wright and Nickell Robey.
All three of the current Trojans have been in action during summer throwing sessions and both Baucham and Harris have said they are completed healed from their spring ailments.
Harris talked after Tuesday's workout about his health, what his expectations are for the 2010 season — "starting, that's what you shoot for," he said — and other topics.
