Matt Barkley pleased with his new toys
When he signed his first recruiting class back in February, coach Lane Kiffin trumpeted it as one of the finest collections of skill talent the school had ever landed.
After two fall practices, quarterback Matt Barkley likes what he sees. Freshmen receivers Kyle Prater, Markeith Ambles and Robert Woods, three freshmen tight ends and tailback Dillon Baxter could help USC shed its newfound reputation for vanilla offense.
The passing game looked crisp Thursday, though the Trojans have yet to don pads this fall so they didn't have to worry about taking hits after the catch.
"I'm really pleased with these guys," Barkley said. "Robert and Markeith look great. They're still learning the offense and getting their timing down, but routes-wise and pure athlete-wise, they're going to be threats for us this year. Kyle seems like he's been here for a while and Dillon has already made his impact."
