Pac-12 divisions announced

USC and UCLA will be separated from longtime in-state rivals Stanford and Cal under the terms of the new two-division Pac-12 conference, commissioner Larry Scott announced at a news conference in San Francisco on Thursday morning.

But the Trojans will continue to play both schools each year under specific terms of the new divisions that allow for annual inter-divisional games for each team.

The two conference divisions are the South (USC and UCLA, plus Colorado, Utah and the Arizona schools) and North (Stanford, Cal, the Oregon schools and the Washington schools), as had been rumored in recent weeks.

But in an interesting twist, the conference championship game will take place each December on the home field of the team with the highest in-conference record.
