Riley picks UCLA, not USC
Safety Dietrich Riley (La Canada, Calif./St. Francis) just announced he will attend UCLA.
Riley, who had originally committed to USC in December, picked the Bruins over USC, Notre Dame, and LSU in a live announcement. The 6-foot-1, 196-pounder said on ESPN after his announcement that he "was committed to Pete Carroll," not USC, and thus felt comfortable in switching to Rick Neuheisel's Bruins.
Riley also said that UCLA offensive coordinator Norm Chow had raised the possibility of Riley playing spurts on offense for the Bruins. This adds to an altogether significant day for UCLA, who has now received five key (and all somewhat unexpected) signees on National Signing Day.
In other news, running back D.J. Morgan (Woodland Hills, Calif./Taft) is expected to soon officially announce he has chosen USC in a presentation at his high school.
