Here are three things to watch from Miami’s perspective:
1. Character test: Last week we found out that Miami cannot compete with the elite NFL teams in a 38-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints (4-0). This week we find out what kind of character the Dolphins have in their locker room. Miami has to prove it can bounce back from an ugly loss. Will things go downhill for the Dolphins in the following games, or will the team quickly pick itself up and correct its mistakes? Miami has a short week of preparation and needs to be sharp right away to regain its confidence.
2. Protect the quarterback: Miami leads the NFL in quarterback sacks allowed with 18. Dolphins starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill has taken a beating this year but hasn’t complained. Miami’s offensive line must keep its quarterback upright if it wants Tannehill to play in all 16 games. The Ravens have strong pass-rushers in Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil. They will certainly test Miami’s offensive tackles in this game.
3. Home cooking: The Dolphins are 1-0 so far at home, and the Ravens are 0-2 on the road. It will be important for Miami to develop a home-field advantage at Sun Life Stadium. The Dolphins play five of their next seven games at home and have a golden opportunity to pad their record. Miami only leaves the state of Florida once in October and November. The Dolphins had a brutal travel schedule early with three road games in September. Now, they can reap the benefits if they play well at Sun Life Stadium.
