Here are some notes and observations from practice:
Miami starting defensive tackle Paul Soliai and backup tight end Michael Egnew returned to practice. Both appear fine and ready to play in Sunday’s game against Buffalo. Soliai was in particularly good spirits. He was dancing at the start of practice and participated in both individual and team drills.
Dolphins starting linebacker Dannell Ellerbe did not practice for the second day in a row. He is trying to overcome a shoulder injury and his playing status remains up in the air. If Ellerbe cannot play, backup linebacker Jason Trusnik will get the start at middle linebacker.
Cornerback Dimitri Patterson practiced for the second straight day, which is encouraging. Patterson has been out since Week 2 with a groin injury and returned to practice following the bye. Patterson said he was unsure if he will be ready to play by Sunday but that he feels much better after the extra week off. Patterson would most likely contribute in the nickel.
