So which team will claim the coveted final playoff spot? There are at least seven teams in the running.
Let’s start with the Miami Dolphins (5-5). Can this team overcome in-house turmoil to make the playoffs? Miami trails the New York Jets (5-5) via a tiebreaker but plays New York twice in December. Will the Dolphins control their own playoff destiny?
What about the Jets (5-5)? They have been up and down all year. New York hasn’t won two in a row but also hasn’t lost two in a row. Can rookie quarterback Geno Smith get it together to make a postseason run?
How about one of several 4-6 teams? The Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns and San Diego Chargers are all among the teams still in the mix after 10 games. Will any of these teams step up?
