Dolphins CB Brent Grimes sits out practice

DAVIE, Fla. -- Although optimistic about his chances of playing Sunday, Miami Dolphins starting cornerback Brent Grimes did not practice Wednesday in the portion open to the media.

Grimes, who practiced Tuesday, stayed on the side with a trainer a day later. Grimes experienced cramps and perhaps some other ailment he wouldn't elaborate on in Sunday's win over the New England Patriots. Miami will release its first injury report this afternoon.

The Dolphins certainly need their top cornerback. Grimes is tied for the team lead with four interceptions and also has a team-high 15 pass defenses.

Miami also caught a break on the injury front from its opponent: the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo starting quarterback E.J. Manuel will sit Sunday's game with a knee injury, and backup Thad Lewis will start. Lewis beat the Dolphins in Week 7.
