Dolphins position breakdown: Specialists

ESPN.com’s Miami Dolphins page continues to examine the team’s roster heading into free agency.

Next up, we take a look at Miami’s special teams:

Under contract in 2014: K Caleb Sturgis, P Brandon Fields, LS John Denny

Free agents: None

Analysis: The Dolphins drafted Sturgis in the fifth round last year and he led the team in scoring. His biggest asset is his strong leg on long field goals and kickoffs. Fields finally made his first Pro Bowl after three straight Pro-Bowl caliber seasons. Denny is Miami’s longest-tenured player and is consistent at his job. The Dolphins ranked eighth in special teams in 2013, according to Dallas Morning News columnist Rich Gosselin's annual rankings.
