Morning take: Philbin and Hickey

February, 13, 2014
Here are the most interesting Miami Dolphins stories Thursday from around the Web:
  • Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports new general manager Dennis Hickey and head coach Joe Philbin are working well together thus far.
Morning take: Philbin and former GM Jeff Ireland had a falling out that impacted the team in 2013. The Dolphins cannot have that happen again.
  • Ian Rapoport of NFL Network believes Jonathan Martin could return to the Dolphins.
Morning take: I will believe it when I see it. The Dolphins are trying to clear themselves from this scandal as soon as possible, and bringing Martin back into that locker room is unlikely. I expect Martin to be traded or released this offseason.
  • Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post writes about the Dolphins' reaction to Michael Sam’s announcement that he is gay.
Morning take: Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said the team is not afraid to take Sam if he’s the best-available player.
  • Andy Kent of the Dolphins' team site takes a look at defensive end Olivier Vernon’s career season.
Morning take: Vernon led the Dolphins with 11.5 sacks. His production kept No. 3 overall pick Dion Jordan on the bench.
