Poll results: Dolphins trade for Mathis

Miami Dolphins fans have spoken once again.

In our latest SportsNation poll, we asked Dolphins fans if the team should make a trade for Philadelphia Eagles guard Evan Mathis, who was put on the trading block this week. Thousands of votes were tabulated, and more than 60 percent said yes, Miami should make a trade for the Pro Bowl guard.

This is a tricky question because the asking price isn’t known. Do the Eagles want a first- or second-round draft pick? Although unlikely, that would make it a near certainty that Miami isn’t interested. But a third- or fourth-round pick seems reasonable for both sides.

The Dolphins already invested money in free agency to patching up their struggling offensive line. Miami signed Pro Bowl left tackle Branden Albert and guard Shelley Smith earlier this month. A trade for Mathis, at the right price, makes sense for the Dolphins. That would leave right tackle as the only position left to fill for Miami heading into May's NFL draft.
