It's been a while since the topic of assistant general manager has come up with the Miami Dolphins. First-year general manager Dennis Hickey came on board and fired Brian Gaine, who previously held the role under former GM Jeff Ireland.
But after several months on the job, the position has finally been filled. ESPN.com’s Mike Reiss and Field Yates report the Dolphins have hired former Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of college scouting Eric Stokes to be Miami’s assistant general manager. Stokes worked with Hickey in Tampa Bay.
The Dolphins went through the entire draft process without an assistant GM. But bringing Stokes on board post-draft makes sense. Stokes can join the team now that Hickey has already established his program and begin working on improving the roster and the 2015 draft.
