Dolphins notes: Ellerbe not practicing
By James Walker
DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins returned to practice for the first time following their bye week.
Here are several notes as the Dolphins prepare for the Buffalo Bills:
- Let’s start with the good news: Miami cornerback Dimitri Patterson returned to practice for the first time in about a month. Patterson has been suffering from a groin injury since Week 2. Patterson participated in drills open to the media. The Dolphins could use Patterson’s veteran leadership this week against the Bills.
- On the bad side, Miami starting linebacker Dannell Ellerbe did not participate in practice and worked on the side with trainers. Ellerbe injured his shoulder in last week's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. His status likely will be up in the air until later in the week.
- Dolphins defensive tackle Paul Soliai and backup tight end Michael Egnew were absent for unspecified reasons. It’s unknown if either situation is due to injury or personal matters.
ESPN.com's Dolphins page will have more reaction from Miami's coaches and players following open locker room.
- Finally, Dolphins Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake (knee) appeared to practice fully in the portion open to the media. Wake participated in team and individual drills, and it appear the bye week served him well.
