Poll Friday: Should Bryant McKinnie start?
By James Walker
The Miami Dolphins are on a three-game losing streak and made an in-season trade to try to fix their problems. On Tuesday Miami acquired left tackle Bryant McKinnie from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a conditional late-round pick.
Our latest “Poll Friday” question is simple: Should McKinnie start Sunday against the New England Patriots?
The Dolphins need McKinnie ASAP after allowing 26 sacks this year. Miami right tackle Tyson Clabo has been awful in pass protection, which forced the trade. This is a huge game for Miami (3-3), which doesn’t want to lose its fourth straight game and second game to a division opponent. Should the Dolphins roll the dice with McKinnie coming off less than a week of practice?
Or should Miami wait one game? McKinnie needs time to learn the offense and continuity on the offensive line is important. Inserting McKinnie changes both the left and right tackle spots. McKinnie is expected to play on the left side, while Jonathan Martin would move to the right and put Clabo on the bench. Is that too much change for Patriots week?
