Updating Dolphins' playoff scenarios
By James Walker
The Miami Dolphins are one step closer to making the playoffs following a thrilling 24-20 victory over the New England Patriots Sunday. Miami (8-6) ended a seven-game losing streak to New England and won its third straight game.
Here are the Dolphins' playoff scenarios entering Week 16:
Dolphins make the playoffs if ...
- Miami WINS and Cincinnati (9-5) and Baltimore (8-6) BOTH LOSE in Week 16 OR
- Miami WINS in Week 16 and Week 17,
It’s a fairly simple formula for the Dolphins. They control their own playoff destiny and cannot slip up against the Buffalo Bills (5-9) and New York Jets (6-8). These will not be easy division games, but the Dolphins will be favored in both.
The key is the Bengals and Ravens play each other in Week 17. That could serve as an elimination game if Miami takes care of its business on the field. The Dolphins have not made the playoffs since 2008.
