Recapping Dolphins' pre-draft visits
By James Walker
Pre-draft visits are coming to an end with the NFL draft just around the corner. The Miami Dolphins were allotted 30 visits and did not announce them to the media.
But here are the known players who were reportedly at the team’s facility in Davie, Florida, this spring:
- Marqise Lee, WR, USC
- Garrett Scott, OT, Marshall
- Odell Beckham Jr., WR, LSU
- Martavis Bryant, WR, Clemson
- Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss
- Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington
- Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, OT, McGill University
- Seantrel Henderson, OT, Miami
- Kevin Pamphile, OT, Purdue
- Spencer Long, G, Nebraska
Again, this is just one third of the players Miami hosted for pre-draft visits. The Dolphins have done a good job keeping a majority of visits under wraps. But from this short list, it’s apparent the Dolphins have a distinct interest in offensive linemen and wide receivers.
Miami’s offensive line struggled mightily last year, allowing a franchise-record 58 sacks. The Dolphins have done a lot by signing offensive linemen Branden Albert, Shelley Smith and Jason Fox in free agency, but there is still work to be done.
The interest in receivers is interesting. The Dolphins have two starters set in Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline, and depth with Rishard Matthews, Brandon Gibson, Damian Williams and Armon Binns. But receiver is perhaps the strongest position in this draft, and Miami could look for another playmaker at the position next week.
