The Lobos haven’t been bowl-eligible since ’07, and with the team still rebuilding, look for that streak to continue.

How the Lobos beat you: UNM’s pistolbased triple option piles up rush yards (310.4 ypg, No. 4 in the FBS; 14 runs of 50-plus, T-No. 1). Senior RB Jhurell Pressley (9.5 ypc) excels at the Lobos’ inside-zone runs.

How you beat the Lobos: The air attack is DOA: Soph QB Lamar Jordan threw for 81.4 ypg (123rd in the FBS), completing 52.7 percent.

How the Lobos beat you: The D is switching to a smaller 3-5-5, which should suit soph LB Kimmie Carson (5 TFL), whom coach Bob Davie calls a “really good blitzer.”

How you beat the Lobos: The run D allowed 269.0 ypg, 5.8 ypc and 40 TDs—all bottom-three FBS ranks. And it likely will lack All-MWC ILB Dakota Cox for much of the year (torn ACL).
