No. 4 TCU will unveil new Nike uniforms for this week’s big Mountain West Conference matchup against No. 16 Utah.
The uniforms are from Nike’s Pro Combat line, which is 25 percent lighter than a normal uniform. The jerseys are purple with “Horned Frogs” written across the front and the words “Never Back Down” in the collar.
The pants are dark gray with purple and black stripes down the side. The pattern on the pants is supposed to be the skin of the horned frog.
The helmets also are dark gray with the skin design and a red stripe going down from the top. According to Nike’s news release, the red stripe represents the blood that shoots from a horned frog’s eyes to protect itself when under attack.
Last season, Utah broke out the all black uniforms for its game against TCU in what was one of the loudest and most exciting games the Utes have played. Expect a similar level of excitement on Saturday.
