Finally, the game we've been waiting on

Let the hype officially begin.

It’s here, the game we’ve been waiting on in the SEC … really ever since Tim Tebow willed Florida to a 31-20 victory over Alabama last year in the SEC championship game.

The Gators (12-0, 8-0 SEC) were expected to be here again, and they did their part.

It wasn’t as clear-cut with the Crimson Tide (12-0, 8-0). They were losing a lot of key players from last year’s team, including a pair of All-American offensive linemen and a three-year starter at quarterback.

But here they are, too, becoming the first SEC team in 35 years to put together back-to-back unbeaten regular seasons.

Nobody could have really predicted that the buildup to last season’s game would be topped any time soon.

It took all of a year.

This time, both teams are unbeaten. They occupy the top two spots in the BCS standings. They own the top two-rated defenses in college football. They’re the two most dominant programs in this conference. They’re coached by two of the highest-paid, most successful coaches in college football. Their fan bases live, eat and sleep football.

What else could you ask for?

Don’t look for a rematch in the BCS National Championship Game, which only adds to the drama this Saturday in Atlanta.

The winner plays for the national title. The loser plays in the Sugar Bowl.

“I can’t think of a bigger game that I’ve been a part of,” Florida coach Urban Meyer said.

That coming from a guy who’s won two of the last three national championships.

Anybody got any extra tickets?
