Jeff Brohm barely had time to settle in as Florida Atlantic’s quarterbacks coach before he jumped at the chance to be back among the big boys.
Brohm has left the Owls after one season and will coach quarterbacks at Illinois.
Brohm was the offensive coordinator at Louisville in 2008, but was about to be demoted before he quit and found a home at FAU. Brohm played quarterback for Howard Schnellenberger at Louisville and that relationship helped land him the job on short notice.
Brohm, who had mentored several quarterbacks that went on to professional careers, helped the Owls rank 15th in the country in passing offense with 279.67 yards per game. He also helped Jeff Vancamp ease into the role of starter after Rusty Smith went down with a season-ending injury.
Brohm will be reunited with new Illinois offensive coordinator Paul Petrino and tight ends coach Greg Nord. All three worked together under former coach Steve Kragthorpe at Louisville.
