Six players from the nonautomatic qualifying schools were named to the Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team, which was announced on Thursday.

Toledo receiver Eric Page, BYU offensive lineman Braden Hansen, Akron linebacker Brian Wagner, Troy cornerback Bryan Willis, Central Florida cornerback Josh Robinson and Wyoming safety Shamiel Gray were among the 28 players named to the team.

Page ranked ninth in the country in receiving yards per game. He finished with 82 catches for 1,159 yards and seven touchdowns. Hansen helped BYU rank No. 22 in total offense this season. Wagner ranked seventh in the country with 11 tackles per game and finished the season with 132 total tackles. Robinson ranked 11th in the country with six interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. Willis led Troy with four interceptions and had 71 tackles. Gray had three interceptions for the Cowboys and 98 tackles.

Page and Gray were the only true freshmen from non-AQ teams on the list.

The team and coach are selected by an 11-person panel of national writers. Both true freshmen and redshirt freshmen were considered for the team.
