West Virginia felt the sting of some high-profile decommitments this recruiting season after Doc Holliday went to Marshall.
This should help ease that sting. ESPNU 150 receiver Ivan McCartney has signed a letter of intent with the Mountaineers, choosing them over Miami and Oregon.
McCartney is from Miramar, Fla., and the same high school as current West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith. He said at a news conference today that the relationship with Smith was a big part of his decision.
McCartney is 6-foot-1 and a lithe 162 pounds and is ranked as the No. 18 receiver in his class. As the Mountaineers continue to try to develop their downfield passing game, McCartney should be a great asset.
