Utah State backup quarterback Kane Wilson has left the football team, the school announced Friday.

Kane was expected to be the No. 2 quarterback behind starter Diondre Borel and he might have gotten some playing time this season as Utah State prepared him to be the starter in 2011.

But Kane was suspended from the team last month after he was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Senior Jeff Fischer is now the primary backup heading into spring football. The Aggies also signed Jeremy Higgins and Alex Hart in the 2010 class. Both will be on campus in the summer.
