Rutgers has 15 first downs to two for Syracuse has nearly twice as many total yards and has run 27 more plays. But the Orange would be leading at halftime if not for a missed Patrick Shadle field goal on the half's final play.

That's because the Scarlet Knights are helping Syracuse out. Mike Teel has thrown two interceptions, and the Orange recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a score. Syracuse actually led 14-0 and got an 82-yard touchdown run from Doug Hogue.

But the Orange have only 33 yards other than Hogue's big play. Teel has thrown two touchdown passes along with his two picks. Rutgers has held Curtis Brinkley, he of the five straight 100-yard games, to just eight yards on five carries in the first half.

There was a little gamesmanship at the end of the half, as Greg Schiano called two straight timeouts after the field goal unit had snapped the ball. One kick was blocked, another had a bad snap and then Shadle missed left on the actual try.

The Scarlet Knights are dominating in most aspects. They just have to cut down on mistakes in the second half and they should win. But they've let an underdog hang around, and that's always dangerous.
