SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The usual Syracuse pattern in games not involving Louisville is for the Orange to hang around for the first half and then fade in the second half. They've got the first part down already.
UConn leads by a score even though Syracuse mounted only one effective drive in the entire game. The Orange have just 90 total yards to 220 for the Huskies.
We've had our share of big plays so far, though. Syracuse blocked a punt for a touchdown, then gave up a safety while attempting a punt of its own. Connecticut's Jordan Todman has a 50-yard touchdown run, and Donald Brown added a 49-yarder for a score.
Brown became the school's all-time rushing leader with 3,220 yards in his career. He already has 97 yards and is looking to go over 100 yards for the ninth time in 10 games.
The Orange's Curtis Brinkley has eclipsed 1,000 yards for the season, becoming the eighth different back in school history to accomplish that feat.
Tyler Lorenzen started at quarterback for UConn, returning after a four-game absence. His threat to run has opened up more things on offense, and he's delivered a couple of nice throws as well.
Can Syracuse stay in the game and give itself a chance to win? History says no, but the Orange have nothing to lose on Senior Day.
